Hello,
How long does this course take and how many hours are required to complete it?
Good morning,
As this lesson is used in both PLC Basics Extended and Standard editions, I’ll cover both here:
First, let’s cover what what students get with their online course order:
1) Lifetime access to online course
2) Instructor support (that’s me – this is typically done via the Q&A posts on each lesson)
3) PLC Application Simulator – Windows program with a built-in PLC and Machine for use with exercises
4) Cached Downloads of RSLogix Micro and Emulate 500 (for those who can’t get these free programs from Rockwell)
5) Course updates – Extended students already have access to several new 2026 lessons in the new course
6) Additional program files and downloads, including a FTViewME project and simulation code to simulate a Machine
7) Discounts on in-person course I hold
Now for the current times – I’ve added and changed a few lessons since I created these totals, but they are close:
– PLC Basics Extended: $99
Time to watch all “required” videos all videos once: 6.5hrs (does not include new 2026 Course lessons already released)
Time to complete quizzes and self paced exercises: Varies – the speed at which students progress varies student by student, and the exercises are totally optional
– PLC Basics Standard: $49
Time to watch all “required” videos all videos once: 3hrs
Time to complete quizzes and self paced exercises: Varies – the speed at which students progress varies student by student, and the exercises are totally optional
Please let me know if you have any other questions?
Shawn Tierney,
Instructor
